Simchat Torah: Why Are We Dancing?

Tuesday, September 29 | 7:00 PM

If Torah is about wisdom, ideas, and learning, why do we celebrate it by dancing?

Shouldn’t we sit down, open a book, and study?

On Simchat Torah, we close the Torah scrolls and dance with them instead. This week, we’ll explore why—and what it reveals about our relationship with Torah.

Is our connection to Torah only about how much we understand, or is there something deeper that belongs equally to every Jew?
